Kaduna receives 70 Clinton’s tricycle ambulances

Kaduna State on Wednesday received 70 tricycle ambulances donated by the Clinton Health Access Initiative.
The CHAI, founded in 2002, carries the name of a former United States of America’s President, Bill Clinton, and it is a global health organisation committed to strengthening integrated health systems and expanding access to care and treatment in the developing countries.
Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, while receiving the ambulances at the Sir Kashim Ibrhaim House, Kaduna, said he was particularly grateful for the Initiative’s intervention in the health sector in the state.
The governor said that the state was the third largest in the country but with worst health danger cases and appealed for more assistance from the former US President.
Specifically, he solicited for additional 300 of such tricycle ambulances from the CHAI to be distributed to all the wards in the state.
According to him, Kaduna “is second with the highest incidence of HIV/AIDS cases in the country.”
El-Rufai attributed the alarming prevalence of HIV in Kaduna to “the 16 years of misrule of the Peoples Democratic Party administration in the state, which neglected the health sector.”
He said the All Progressives Congress administration in the state was determined to reverse the ugly trend, urging CHAI to do more for the state, which he said was in dire need of finance.
The governor said, “I am particularly grateful for the former US President, Bill Clinton Foundation’s intervention initiative in Kaduna State.
“We are really grateful for the gesture and we want you to let the former President know that Kaduna is the third largest state in Nigeria and with the worst health danger.
“The state also has the second highest incidence of AIDS. The state has been misruled by the Peoples Democratic Party. It is among the worst in terms of health challenges in the country.”
