A group of youths from the Northern part of the country under the aegis
of Northern Youths Movement (NYM) have pointed accusing fingers at All
Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of being
responsible for calls for President Muhammadu Buhari to resign, The
Sheet reports.
It would be recalled that a group, the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) Media Watchdog had called for President Buhari to
resign after he said his age -72 years – might hinder his effectiveness
in office.
PDP has however come out to deny any affiliation with the group.
NYM,
speaking via a statement issued by its Protem Chairman, Mallam Ishaya
Jato on Thursday, June 18, 2015 accused Tinubu if gradually unfolding
his plans to usurp the presidency from Buhari.
The NYM went on to
say that the press statement calling for the resignation actually
emanated from Ti nubu’s media office in Lagos, adding that it was part
of the plans by the former Lagos State Governor to install his stooge,
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as president.
The group further said
that Tinubu was desperate to have his other cronies, Ahmed Lawan and
Femi Gbajabiamila elected as Senate President and Speaker of the House
of Representatives respectively.
The statement read: “The comment
made in South Africa by President Buhari, regarding his age was
deliberately hyped by Tinubu’s hatchet men in the media and the call for
the president’s registration was aimed at gauging the reaction of
Nigerians.
“Also, we are aware that Tinubu’s camp is working on
the possibility of President Buhari not completing his term, either due
to failing health or death.
“However, we youths in north are aware of his (Tinubu) plot against the north and we wish to tell him that we are watching.
“He
has failed in his attempt to hijack the National Assembly and use it to
impeach President Buhari and we want to assure Tinubu and his cronies
that President Buhari will not only complete his tenure, he will go for
second term.”
