The Lagos State Government has advised mechanics and artisans in the gas pipeline area, around Otedola Bridge, Ikeja, to vacate the place for their safety.
The Administrator, Kick Against Indiscipline, Mr. Deji Badejo, gave the advice during a visit to the area, a statement said on Thursday.
Badejo said staying in the gas pipeline area was dangerous and had security implications.
He said, “The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has directed us to enlighten you in order to prevent a disaster that can happen here, especially if you continue to stay here.
“Our presence today is to sensitise you, especially mechanics and artisans staying in the gas pipeline area around Otedola Bridge, on the dangers and security implications of continued stay in this area.
“The attention of Governor Ambode has been drawn to the dangerous and illegal occupation of the piece of land reserved as set back on the gas pipeline.”
The administrator told the occupants to voluntarily vacate the place in their own interest and that of the general public.
He said, “We have sent the MOE team here to prevent any act that can cause fire disaster in the area.
“This can be achieved if the mechanics and artisans operating here leave voluntarily and look for a conducive place to engage in their activities.”
