Police arrest 60-year-old, four flee over teenagers kidnap

The Bauchi State Police Command on Thursday said it had arrested a 60-year-old man for criminal conspiracy and kidnapping.
The suspect was arrested alongside a 25-year-old while four others are still at large.
They were alleged to have kidnapped six teenagers in Pali village in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Haruna Mohammed, in a statement made available to journalists in Bauchi on Thursday, said the suspects demanded N6m as ransom before releasing the victims.
He said the Police rescued one of the six kidnapped teenagers.
Mohammed said, “On the June 29 at about 17:00hrs (5pm), unknown gunmen, numbering about six, kidnapped six teenagers at Pali village in Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi State to an unknown destination.
 “Suspects later demanded the sum of six million Naira (N6,000,000. 00) ransom through phone call before they will release the victims.
 “Since then, discreet investigation led to the arrest of two suspects, namely, Alhaji Isa Ya’u, male, (60) of Mai Ari in Alkaleri LGA and Mamman Madi, male, (25) of Yelo village, Alkaleri LGA.
“So far, police rescued one victim, Shema Danji, male, (12) of same address while effort is on to liberate others and get the fleeing suspects arrested.”
The PPRO said two handsets, with the contact GSM numbers, were recovered from the suspects.
On Friday last wee, the police command arrested one Suleiman Yahaya (23) and Kamalu Abdullahi (26), who allegedly abducted a 15-year-old girl to an unknown destination and thereafter raped her.
