Sacked pension boss asks Buhari to sustain reform

Former Chairman of Pension Reform Task Team, Dr. Abdulrasheed Maina, has urged the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to strengthen ongoing pension reform in the country.
Maina made this known in Calabar when he delivered a paper on Pension Administration and Reforms in Nigeria.
A statement by Mr. Bassey Ita, the Director of Communications in Patriotic Peoples Network, organisers of the programme, quoted the former pension boss as saying that for the country to get its pension system working and to benefit those it was meant to serve, it requires not only people of integrity but a technological driven biometric system.
He observed that the biometric system undertaken by the PRTT could serve as a stepping stone for more enhanced and enlarged exercise.
Maina also expressed confidence that Buhari would bring the much expected change to pension administration in the country.
The PRTT ran into troubled waters when some stakeholders faulted and attacked his team’s reform, which later brought him into a confrontation with the Senate.
He was removed and went underground when the heat became unbearable.
